Kogi APC Campaign Council Urges Security Agencies to Investigate and Prosecute Killers of Party Member by Thugs

Kotonkarfe, Kogi State – The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Kogi State has urged security agencies to take action against the killers of one of its members who was allegedly murdered by thugs. The council expressed concern about the silence of the security agencies in the matter, claiming that it is empowering the suspects. The APC is pointing fingers at the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Muritala Ajaka, as the orchestrator of the crime.

Addressing reporters in Lokoja, the Spokesman/Director of Media and Publicity for the Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council, Kingsley Fanwo, emphasized that their candidate, Ahmed Ododo, is committed to running a campaign based on issues rather than violence or divisive rhetoric. Fanwo commended the peaceful and unifying nature of the APC campaign under the leadership of campaign council chairman, Yahaya Bello, and Director-General, Shuaibu Audu. He stressed that Ododo wants to convince the people of Kogi through the party’s track record, promises of consolidation and continuity, and his message of unity.

Calling the murder “gruesome,” Fanwo urged the security agencies to ensure justice for the victim and her family. He accused the suspects of declaring war on the Nigerian state and highlighted the responsibility of the state to protect its citizens.

As the investigation continues, the Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council remains steadfast in its pursuit of justice. They look forward to the security agencies conducting a thorough investigation and prosecuting those responsible for the murder.

In the lead-up to the November 11, 2023 governorship election, the APC seeks to maintain the momentum to secure a victory. They reiterate their commitment to running a campaign that is focused on the needs and aspirations of the people, devoid of violence and divisive tactics.

The murder of the APC member has raised concerns about the state of security in Kogi State. The APC has called for immediate action to be taken against the suspects and highlights the need for security agencies to fulfill their duty to protect the lives and property of the citizens. Upholding the principles of justice and ensuring a peaceful electoral process should be paramount in the upcoming governorship election.
