In a whirlwind of trade rumors, Kyrie Irving has requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, according to a report from ESPN. The report states that Irving asked the Nets for a trade ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to Irving, with Tristan Thompson recently saying that he texted Irving about reuniting on the Lakers. The Lakers have also reportedly made two players, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram, untouchable in trade talks involving Irving.
In response to the trade rumors, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said, “Kyrie Irving is a bona fide star, and the Nets should be doing everything in their power to keep him. That’s the bottom line.”
The NBA trade deadline is Thursday, March 25th, and the fate of Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets remains to be seen.
