Legendary college basketball analyst Billy Packer, who called 34 Final Fours in his career, has passed away at the age of 82.

Packer was a staple of college basketball for decades, beginning his career in the early 1970s. He worked for CBS Sports from 1982-2008, calling 34 Final Fours during that time, and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.

Packer was known for his enthusiasm and knowledge of the game, and his love of college basketball was evident in every broadcast. He was also a mentor to many of the current college basketball analysts, including CBS Sports’ own Clark Kellogg.

Packer’s death has left a hole in the college basketball world, and he will be remembered as one of the greatest analysts of all time.
