Man chokes ex-wife, pushes her out car window after CPS takes their kids

LAS VEGAS, NV – In a grim episode that underscores the anguish of familial separation, a man from Nevada has encountered serious legal trouble after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife following the loss of their children to state care. Fernando Jimenez, 47, now confronts charges including attempted murder, domestic battery by strangulation, and battery via domestic violence that led to substantial harm.

The distressing event unfolded on June 12 in the remote stretches of Clark County along Nevada State Route 147. Police were alerted to the incident by a woman presenting visible injuries and bleeding. She recounted a violent confrontation with her former spouse, which arose from the anguish of their children being taken by the state.

Subsequent reports from witnesses aligned with the woman’s account, indicating that what began as a verbal dispute quickly escalated into physical aggression. Jimenez allegedly strangled his ex-wife and subsequently forced her out of the vehicle they were in, proceeding to drag her by the neck and hair down a nearby hill.

One witness to the scene, sharing a temporary abode in a vehicle with Jimenez and their sister due to recent eviction, narrated the couple’s heated exchange about their living situation and the custody loss of their six children. Matters took a violent turn when Jimenez reportedly thrust himself and his ex-wife through the car window in a fit of rage. Despite her appeals, he continued to attack her fervently.

An attempt by Jimenez to drag the woman further was thwarted when he lost balance and fell, giving her a momentary chance to escape and seek help from law enforcement. Officers later found Jimenez prone on the road, utilizing empty beer bottles as a makeshift pillow.

Initially claiming to have acted in self-defense and professing his intentions to do well by his family, Jimenez’s stance shifted, opting for silence after hospital discharge.

Pending his arraignment on June 18, Jimenez has been confined to the Clark County Jail, where his bond has been set at $100,000.
