Man dumps pot full of gasoline on wife and burns her alive after fight over air conditioner temperature

WILLISTON, FL – A Florida man is accused of a shocking act of domestic violence that culminated in the fiery death of his wife following a dispute over their home’s temperature. On Thursday evening, the Williston Fire Rescue was dispatched to a house fire, only to discover a scene of horror with the homeowner deceased inside.

Robert Head, 58, has been taken into custody on charges of first-degree murder and arson after he was located hiding with a machete in a dog kennel, exhibiting self-harm intentions. Prior to law enforcement’s arrival, firefighters braved the fully ablaze residence to find the victim, whose identity was later confirmed as Genevether Head.

Details from law enforcement point to a tumultuous domestic atmosphere, with Genevether’s daughter recounting a history of verbal altercations between her stepfather and mother, often centered around disagreements over the air conditioning settings in their home. The daughter, who was present during the tragic incident, described how the argument escalated dramatically after she had returned from work on the fateful day to find the home uncomfortably warm.

A probable cause arrest affidavit revealed the chilling details of how the confrontation spiraled out of control. Head, allegedly hurling insults at his wife and vowing never to leave her, is accused of fetching a pot filled with gasoline and despicably dousing his wife in the flammable liquid. He followed through on his implied threat by igniting a piece of paper and creating an explosive reaction that fatally set his wife ablaze and also injured the daughter.

After being read his rights, Head reportedly confessed to the heinous crime, claiming a build-up of frustration over his wife’s support for her daughter in their disagreements. According to his admission, the raging dispute over the temperature setting was the tipping point that led to his devastating actions.

The community is reeling from the tragedy, with Genevether’s nephew, Jamell Bradshaw, speaking to her character as a supportive and caring individual, describing the profound impact her loss has had on the family. He emphasized the difficulty they are facing as they come to terms with the gravity of their ordeal.

Currently, Robert Head is detained at the Levy County Jail without bond, awaiting further legal proceedings in this appalling case.
