Man found covered in blood at Illinois motel repeatedly stabbed man in his room on Christmas Eve

ADDISON, IL – A man faces grave criminal charges after allegedly attacking and stabbing another man multiple times on Christmas Eve inside an Illinois hotel room, according to local authorities. The assault reportedly unfolded after what began as a holiday celebration among acquaintances.

Uberclein Vazquez Villareal, 40, has been formally charged with armed violence and aggravated battery related to the incident, which left the victim hospitalized with serious injuries. According to prosecutors, what started as a casual gathering quickly took a violent turn when Vazquez Villareal is accused of harassing one of the men as he attempted to sleep on an inflatable mattress following the festivities.

Authorities said another man, who was sharing the room with the accused and the victim, briefly stepped out to take a phone call. During his absence, Vazquez Villareal allegedly launched the knife attack, leaving the victim with multiple wounds to his upper chest and torso. Upon returning, the witness discovered the crime scene and immediately summoned emergency responders.

Responding officers were first met by a hotel employee hiding near the front desk, who informed them someone had been attacked. Police then made their way to the third floor, where they found Vazquez Villareal in the hallway outside the room, his hands visibly stained with blood, officials said.

Police took Vazquez Villareal into custody at the scene. Inside the hotel room, officers discovered the victim lying on an inflatable bed, sustaining several stab wounds. The injured man was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Authorities did not provide an update on his condition as of Saturday.

An investigation revealed the weapon wielded in the assault was a blade measuring approximately 4.5 inches. Authorities allege that the attack was unprovoked and followed a period of harassment towards the victim earlier that evening.

DuPage County officials called the violent episode “shocking” and pledged rigorous prosecution for such acts. They emphasized that violent crime of this nature would not be tolerated in the county.

As of now, Vazquez Villareal is being detained without the possibility of bond. Local officials have scheduled his next court appearance for January 20, 2026.

No further details about the relationship between the involved parties or the motive behind the assault have been disclosed. The hotel and law enforcement officials have declined to comment on what led to the escalation from celebration to violence.
