Man kidnaps his 3 kids and kills the 1-year-old in fatal car crash

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – A tragic incident unfolded in Virginia Beach as a 1-year-old child died following an alleged abduction by the father, Dana Plummer. On Wednesday night, local police responded to a report of a stabbing at approximately 8:48 p.m., discovering two critically injured victims at the scene.

The Virginia Beach Police Department stated that the victims, an adult woman and a juvenile girl, sustained multiple stab wounds. Both were transported to nearby hospitals and are in stable condition. Authorities have labeled this incident as “domestic-related.”

According to preliminary investigations, the 36-year-old Plummer allegedly stabbed the two individuals before fleeing with his three children: two boys aged 7 and 5, and a 1-year-old girl. An Amber Alert was swiftly issued for the missing children and the suspect.

The alert paid off when a vigilant citizen recognized Plummer’s vehicle and notified the police. Despite their efforts to stop him, Plummer reportedly drove through a police checkpoint, ultimately losing control of the vehicle and crashing.

While Plummer was apprehended without further incident, the 1-year-old girl was gravely injured and later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The two boys were found without significant harm.

Plummer now faces an array of charges, including two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, three counts of parental abduction, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and domestic assault.

“This is an unimaginable tragedy, and on behalf of the VBPD, I extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this loss,” said Police Chief Paul Neudigate.

The Virginia Beach Police Department continues to investigate the case intensively, as the community grapples with the devastating events.
