Man Sentenced to Year in Prison for Illegally Entering Bush Intercontinental Airport

HOUSTON, Texas – A man has been sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for illegally entering an aircraft area at Bush Intercontinental Airport in 2021, according to U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. Allan Leon Goins III pleaded guilty to the charges.

On November 2, Goins breached and entered the restricted airport operations area, bypassing security measures and fencing. He also stole an Atlantic Aviation Inc. uniform and damaged a utility cart. Security pursued Goins for over an hour in dark and foggy conditions before apprehending him.

As a result of Goins’ actions, airport runways, taxiways, and other operations were shut down for about two hours. When taken into custody, Goins reportedly told police that they “should have shot him.” Three days later, a loaded pistol was found in the area where he was apprehended.

In addition to his prison sentence, U.S. District Judge Lee Rosenthal ordered Goins to serve three years of supervised release and pay $2,276.48 in restitution.

It is important to note that incidents like this are not common at Houston’s airports. Security measures are in place to protect the safety of passengers and to prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.

Authorities remain vigilant in ensuring the security and integrity of airport operations, and any breaches will be met with appropriate legal action.
