Maryland woman beaten to death by boyfriend who wraps her in plastic and tries to cover her with concrete

SUITLAND, MD – A Maryland man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of his girlfriend, whose body was discovered wrapped in plastic and partially encased in concrete inside her apartment, authorities revealed.

Michael McClanahan, 38, faces charges including first-degree and second-degree murder, in addition to a count related to allegedly attempting to conceal a body, according to Prince George’s County Police. The gruesome discovery was made on April 24 during a welfare check at the victim’s residence on Ewing Avenue in Suitland, a suburb bordering the nation’s capital.

The victim, 44-year-old Sherron Turner, was found deceased within the premises. Investigators later determined through an autopsy that Turner had died from blunt force trauma, classifying her death as a homicide. This finding swiftly led authorities to pursue McClanahan as the primary suspect, ultimately issuing a warrant for his arrest.

Interestingly, McClanahan was detained even before the autopsy concluded, following a separate incident at a Walmart Supercenter in Washington, D.C. On April 25, he was apprehended and accused of stabbing another man during an arrest at the store. Surveillance footage purportedly showed him attempting to steal items, which led to the confrontation and subsequent arrest.

Despite the arrest, authorities have yet to establish a clear motive for Turner’s killing, categorizing it as a “Domestic-Related Murder” in their statements. The relationship between Turner and McClanahan was confirmed to be romantic.

In the interim, Turner’s family, who had considered her missing just prior to her body being found, is preparing to lay her to rest. A funeral service is scheduled for early May in Exmore, Virginia, where she will be remembered by her loved ones.

Currently, McClanahan is being held at the Central Detention Facility in Washington, D.C., and is awaiting extradition to Maryland. While the Maryland court system has not yet logged a docket entry specifically for this case, records show a history of criminal activity linked to McClanahan dating back over a decade.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Turner’s death, seeking to bring full clarity to what led to the tragic event. Further updates are anticipated as the legal proceedings unfold.
