Mom discovers son’s girlfriend’s body hidden in plastic tarp inside his home in Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A mother seeking refuge from Hurricane Milton uncovered a grim scene at her son’s home, leading to the arrest of Robert Hendrix, 32, on charges of second-degree murder and evidence tampering.

Kristin Carrier, 43, was found dead with multiple gunshot and stab wounds, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. On October 9, Hendrix’s mother arrived at his residence, planning to shelter there during the storm.

After the hurricane passed, Hendrix left to purchase supplies, allowing his mother to discover Carrier’s body wrapped in a brown tarp in a bedroom.

Upon discovering the body, the mother allegedly contacted her daughter, who promptly picked her up. When Hendrix returned, he reportedly reacted with agitation upon being questioned by his family. The mother and sister subsequently left and informed the authorities.

Law enforcement responded to the scene around 6 p.m. on October 10, observing blood on the floor and walls. Carrier’s body, still encased in the tarp, was located at the bedroom’s threshold.

Investigators collected a knife, baseball bat, and gun from the scene, submitting them for forensic analysis. Details from the report regarding the test results remain undisclosed.

A witness informed detectives of hearing Carrier’s cries from the bedroom at approximately 3 p.m. on October 9. Investigators, using cellphone data, determined she was alone at the residence during the suspect timeframe.

Hendrix, who has a felony record, faced additional charges for firearm possession.

Authorities reported finding methamphetamine in his home. With Hendrix detained in Duval County Jail, investigators secured the opportunity to delve further into the case, culminating in formal charges. Hendrix remains incarcerated without bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for March 12.
