BEND, Oregon — Authorities are on the lookout for a potentially dangerous suspect linked to a fatal shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office reported that they responded to a gunshot victim call shortly before 6 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of 32-year-old Justin Garret Jiminez at the scene, where a firearm was also located.

Investigators quickly named 51-year-old Don Henry Vandenberg Jr. as a key person of interest in the case. Vandenberg, who is also known by the nickname “Tank,” stands about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has a bald head, facial hair, and numerous tattoos that could help identify him.

Among Vandenberg’s notable tattoos are phrases and symbols that include “Fit for Duty” across his chest, “Tank” on his upper abdomen, and an ace of spades displayed on his upper left arm. Additional tattoos are located on his forearms, and “EK” can be seen on his right calf.

Law enforcement has urged community members not to engage with Vandenberg if they encounter him, emphasizing that he should be considered armed and dangerous. No further details have been released as the investigation continues.
