Harvard, Illinois – A tragic incident involving a young couple has been ruled as a murder-suicide following an autopsy. Brandon Dumovich, 30, and his wife, Rachel Dumovich, 29, were discovered fatally shot inside their vehicle late at night on October 6. Authorities reported that a firearm was located within the car.

According to the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, both individuals died from single gunshot wounds to the head. Investigators from the Harvard Police Department found that Brandon shot Rachel before taking his own life.

The couple, who celebrated their engagement in 2023, was just days away from their first wedding anniversary, which was set for October 12. Their history dates back to middle school, where they maintained a friendship for 15 years before beginning their romantic relationship in 2022.

Despite their longstanding bond and recent marriage, obituaries published for the couple did not reflect their unique relationship. Friends and family have yet to publicly elaborate on the couple’s life together, raising questions about their circumstances leading up to the tragedy.

On the day they were found, Rachel updated her Facebook profile photo to a selfie with Brandon, accompanied by a nostalgic post about a romantic trip to Greece, expressing a desire to return. Authorities discovered their bodies along Route 14 in the vicinity of North Division Street.
