Dearborn, Michigan — Ford has unveiled the highly anticipated Mustang Dark Horse SC, a performance vehicle that promises to enhance the legendary muscle car’s reputation. The new variant boasts a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, making it a formidable contender in the high-performance segment.

Set to be positioned between the Mustang GTD and the current Dark Horse, the SC edition is expected to deliver impressive output, although precise power figures and pricing will be revealed later this year. This muscular setup aligns with the Mustang legacy, following in the footsteps of the previous-generation Shelby GT500, which also featured a supercharged V8.

Beyond sheer power, the Dark Horse SC introduces advanced engineering and design features. It comes standard with MagneRide dampers and boasts a suite of performance enhancements, including revised springs, firmer stabilizer bars, and updated wishbones. A magnesium strut tower brace provides additional structural integrity, reinforcing Ford’s commitment to performance and handling.

Brembo brakes, featuring six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston at the rear, ensure that stopping power matches acceleration. The SC rides on Pirelli P Zero R tires mounted on striking 20-inch aluminum wheels, blending style with performance.

Airflow and cooling are enhanced significantly in the SC model, which sports a redesigned front fascia with openings that are substantially larger than those found on the standard Dark Horse. The new hood design not only contributes to airflow but also generates enhanced downforce, making it dynamically superior at high speeds.

Additionally, an optional Track Pack offers further refinements, including a recalibrated suspension system and specialized tires developed in collaboration with Michelin. This package also features carbon-ceramic brakes and a distinctive ducktail-style rear spoiler, both crafted to maximize downforce and grip at track speeds.

Inside, Ford has equipped the Mustang Dark Horse SC with features that resonate with performance enthusiasts, such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and optional Recaro seats. Buyers can also opt for exclusive aesthetic additions, including a Teal Accent Package that accentuates brake calipers and badging, alongside a Carbon Exterior Package that enhances the vehicle’s sporty profile.

Ford is preparing to roll out order books this spring, with deliveries expected to commence during the summer months. Mustang brand manager Ryan Shaughnessy emphasized that the SC’s design is not merely to compete but to outperform iconic brands like Porsche and Ferrari. “We designed it to beat them,” he stated.
