Nashville Man Charged with Attempted Murder of Daughter

NASHVILLE, TN – In a violent family confrontation, an 81-year-old man from Nashville has been taken into custody for the attempted murder of his daughter. Local authorities report that the stabbing occurred on the afternoon of Monday in a residential area of South Nashville.

The Metro Nashville Police Department received an emergency call and responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m., where they found the victim with multiple stab wounds to her upper body. She was rushed to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is currently in serious condition but stable.

The assailant, identified as Floyd Allen Seay, was immediately detained at the scene. Video testimony and eyewitness accounts led to his arrest. According to the police account, an argument between Seay and his daughter escalated into a physical altercation, culminating in Seay attacking her multiple times with a kitchen knife.

Witnesses described a harrowing scene where after the attack, Seay stood up, surrendered the knife to a neighbor, and announced his intention to kill his daughter. During the interrogation, Seay admitted to grabbing the knife deliberately and indicated that the incident stemmed from longstanding tensions. He also stated that he would commit the act again if given the opportunity.

Seay has been charged with attempted criminal homicide and is being held on a $500,000 bond at the Metro Jail. The incident has left the community in shock as law enforcement continues to investigate the motivations behind the crime. The current focus remains on the daughter’s recovery and the ongoing judicial proceedings against Seay.
