Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, the breakout star of “Never Have I Ever,” spoke with reporters about her experience on the Netflix hit show and what’s next for her. In a recent interview with NBC News, Ramakrishnan discussed the signs of maturity seen in her character Devi throughout the final season.

Ramakrishnan noted that although Devi initially struggled with handling grief and loss, she eventually learns to confront her feelings and communicate more openly with those around her. “It’s really about Devi finally taking responsibility for her actions and realizing that it’s okay to be vulnerable,” Ramakrishnan told NBC News.

The young actress also reflected on the impact “Never Have I Ever” has had, saying that she is grateful to have been part of a show that has started important conversations about mental health, representation and identity. “It’s been amazing to see how people see themselves in the characters on the show, and how it’s helped them navigate their own lives,” Ramakrishnan said in an interview with NPR.

As for what’s next for Ramakrishnan, she remains tight-lipped but teased that she’s excited for the future. “I am working on a few things,” Ramakrishnan told The New York Times. “But ultimately, it’s about finding a balance between staying true to who I am and challenging myself to grow as an actor.”
