New York mother jumps off Niagara Falls with her 9-year-old son and 5-month-old baby girl

NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Tragedy struck the scenic Niagara Falls Monday night as a mother and her two young children leaped to their deaths, authorities confirmed.

Chaianti Means, 33, along with her nine-year-old son, Roman Rossman, and five-month-old daughter, Mecca Means, reportedly climbed over a guardrail on Luna Island before plunging over the falls.

The heartbreaking incident has left investigators across the state working tirelessly to recover the bodies, hindered by the area’s treacherous currents. Initial findings suggest the fall was deliberate, though police stress that the “circumstances remain under investigation.”

Luna Island, nestled between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, is part of Niagara Falls’ renowned attractions. Efforts to gather more evidence see the deployment of both aerial drones and underwater units.

The loss has rocked the Niagara Falls community, where the family resided. Chaianti Means reportedly dedicated her career to aiding others as a domestic violence counselor, according to details on her professional networking profile.

Grieving friends and family expressed their sorrow and shared memories of the deceased on social media. “You really never know what anybody is going through….RIP,” wrote one friend, Niesha Eukeya, in a poignant message.

Another friend, Mich Molina, expressed debilitating grief: “I can’t even bare to write a post about her and share memories… Just know her and her children are dearly loved by me and my children.”

While the investigation continues, the community mourns the profound loss, grappling with the sudden departure of a mother dedicated to service and her two beloved children, who touched many lives.
