NFL Giants Unveil ‘Century Red’ Jerseys to Honor 100-Year Legacy

East Rutherford, New Jersey – The New York Giants, a team with a rich football legacy spanning 100 years and boasting eight championships, including four Super Bowl victories, have unveiled their new uniforms dubbed “Century Red.” These uniforms honor the franchise’s history, drawing inspiration from their inaugural season in 1925 under founder Tim Mara.

The design process for the “Century Red” uniforms, which feature tan pants and red and blue striped socks reminiscent of the team’s earliest attire, has been a two-year collaboration with the NFL. The uniforms pay homage to the Giants’ roots and their significance in the early days of the league.

The red jerseys are symbolic of the Giants’ participation in the first-ever NFL Championship Game in 1933 and are accented with blue details from that era. Moreover, the inclusion of an iconic winged helmet honors the 1938 champions, highlighting the team’s foundational role in the NFL’s history.

Linebacker Bobby Okereke described the new uniforms as “gritty and vintage,” reflecting a throwback to the rough and tough style of play from the 1920s and 1930s. The uniforms serve as a tribute to the players who came before, paving the way for the current generation to continue the team’s legacy.

Each of the Giants’ jerseys for the 2024 season will feature a special “100 Seasons” patch, further celebrating the franchise’s century-long history. The players see wearing the throwback uniforms as a way to honor their predecessors and carry on the Giants’ tradition of excellence on the field.

The design of the “100 Seasons” patch incorporates elements from the team’s history, with a shield inspired by the Polo Grounds, the Giants’ first home, and zeros shaped like Giants Stadium. Additionally, the patch features a re-creation of the team’s classic skyline logo overlaid on a football named “The Duke,” paying tribute to Wellington Mara with eight laces representing the team’s eight NFL championships.
