Nightclub Shootout Leaves Two Dead and Seven Injured in Miami-area Gunfight

MIAMI, Fla. – In a tragic incident at the Martini Bar in Doral, a gunman and a security guard lost their lives during a shootout involving police, with seven others sustaining injuries. The Miami-Dade Police Department disclosed that the violent confrontation erupted following a dispute among club patrons, leading to the security guard’s intervention, which tragically resulted in the suspect fatally shooting him.

Doral police officers stationed at the nightclub swiftly responded to the turmoil, with one of them ultimately taking down the gunman. Among those wounded were a woman, five men, and one of the officers, who demonstrated resilience by applying a tourniquet to his upper thigh after being shot. Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez commended the officer’s training, emphasizing how it potentially saved his life.

Remarkably, the venue of the shooting had been the site of an active shooter drill conducted by Miami-Dade police exactly one year ago. Despite the officer’s injuries, he was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Two individuals critically injured in the incident were rushed to different trauma centers, with the remaining four victims reported to be in stable condition.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has initiated an investigation into the tragic event to ascertain the origins of the gunfire that wounded the six victims. Detective Alvaro Zabaleta expressed condolences for the security guard who lost his life while fulfilling his duties, extending sympathies to his grieving family. The incident serves as a distressing reminder of the risks faced by those responsible for ensuring public safety in such settings.
