Norwalk Murder Cold Case: Public Urged to Help Solve 3-Year-Old Killing of Raul Cervantes

Norwalk, California authorities are urging the public for assistance in solving the murder of Raul Cervantes, who was tragically shot in his parked car more than three years ago. The 32-year-old was fatally attacked in a Dollar Tree parking lot just days before Christmas, leaving detectives searching for answers.

During a recent press conference, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna described the chilling scene in which Cervantes was mercilessly shot while waiting for friends in his parked vehicle. Despite the violent attack, nothing was stolen from the victim – his belongings, including his wallet, cellphone, truck, and off-road vehicle, were left untouched.

The investigation into Cervantes’ death has led authorities to three suspects, one of whom was identified in a police sketch as the gunman. Additionally, JaMaree Boone, a person of interest, and the suspected getaway driver, spotted at a nearby gas station, are also sought in connection with the 2020 shooting. The suspect’s vehicle, a light grey Kia Forte, was captured on surveillance video, revealing a distinctive Ace of Spades tattoo on the suspect’s hand.

Sheriff Luna shared a heartfelt letter from Cervantes’ family, owners of a custom wheels and tire shop in Hawthorne. The family continues to grapple with the loss, especially his young children who were just 4 and 9 years old at the time of his death. Luna emphasized the importance of the public’s cooperation in bringing justice to Cervantes’ loved ones.

Despite the passage of three years, Luna remains optimistic that there are individuals who witnessed or have knowledge crucial to solving the case. He emphasized the pivotal role that community members can play in providing information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible for Cervantes’ murder. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the sheriff’s department or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1 (800) 222-TIPS.

The search for answers continues as authorities, with the public’s support, strive to bring closure to Cervantes’ grieving family and ensure that those responsible for his untimely death are held accountable.
