Off-Duty Greensboro Police Officer Shot and Killed: Two Suspects Still at Large

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A search is underway for the suspects who fatally shot an off-duty Greensboro police officer at a Sheetz gas station on the 3200 block of Sandy Ridge Road.

The two suspects, described as men in their early 20s, were last seen wearing distinct clothing. One was in a black hoodie, black sweatpants, black shoes, and a green or gray toboggan, while the other was in a jean jacket with fur, gray sweatpants, and tennis shoes.

The city’s Police Chief expressed deep emotion as he spoke about the veteran officer, who had served for 22 years. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper also issued a statement of support for the department.

According to reports, the suspects were last seen driving along I-40 westbound in a black Chevrolet Equinox with an NC license plate that reads KKA-4432, with a Hertz Car Sales plate on the front of it.

A Blue Alert was issued by the Greensboro Police Department to aid in the capture of the suspects, as these alerts are issued for violent criminals who have killed or seriously injured an officer in the line of duty. However, as of now, it’s unclear whether the suspects have been captured.

The police department has yet to confirm the status of the suspects. The community is urged to report any information related to this incident.
