An off-duty NYPD officer is in critical condition after being shot in the head during an attempted robbery in Brooklyn on Tuesday night.

According to sources, the officer was shot after attempting to purchase a used vehicle. The officer was then robbed at gunpoint, and the shooter opened fire when the officer attempted to flee.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, and is reportedly fighting for his life.
