Ohio Governor Warns of ‘Grave Danger of Death’ as Crews Prepare for ‘Controlled Release’ After Train Derailment in East Palestine

On Monday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine warned of a “grave danger of death” near a burning, derailed train in East Palestine. The train had been carrying hazardous chemicals, and crews are now attempting a “controlled release” of the chemicals.

Officials have advised residents to evacuate from the area due to potential explosion concerns. Evacuations are currently underway, as well as an investigation into the cause of the derailment.

In addition to the train derailment, a multi-vehicle crash in Xenia resulted in at least one person being hospitalized.

Meanwhile, in East Palestine, a rail car is at risk for catastrophic failure and explosion. The derailment has caused major disruption to the area, and officials have urged residents to take caution and follow safety protocols.
