In a tragic incident in Omaha, Nebraska, police officers shot and killed a gunman at a Target store in west Omaha.
According to Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer, officers responded to a call about an active shooter at the store. When they arrived, they reportedly encountered a 38-year-old man with a gun. After issuing verbal commands, the officers shot the man, who later died at the scene.
The police identified the officers involved in the shootout as Sgt. J.D. Smith, Sgt. B.J. Kratky, Officer K.E. Kuehl, and Officer M.D. Kofoed. All four were injured in the incident and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was wanted for a string of burglaries in the area.
The incident is still under investigation, and the Omaha Police Department has asked anyone with information to contact them.
