After an hours-long standoff with police, Oregon kidnapping suspect Benjamin Obadiah Foster was found dead on Wednesday, according to local officials.
Foster, who had been suspected of kidnapping and torturing a woman in Grants Pass, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after police surrounded his home in Medford.
The victim, who was not named, was rescued by police after a tip led them to Foster’s home. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
According to police, Foster had been on the run since Tuesday when he was suspected in the attempted murder of another woman in Grants Pass.
The search for Foster had been narrowed to Medford after police received a tip that he was in the area. Police then surrounded his home and began negotiations with him.
After hours of negotiations, police entered the home and found Foster dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The case is still under investigation, and police have not released any further information.
