Patrick Mahomes Injury Update: Andy Reid, Mahomes Speak Ahead of AFC Championship Showdown

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to play in the AFC Championship game on Sunday, despite a high ankle sprain he sustained in the divisional round.

Mahomes addressed the media on Thursday and said he was “ready to go” for the title game. He was seen at practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Mahomes is “progressing well” and that the team is “encouraged” by his recovery.

Mahomes’ injury has been a major topic of conversation in the lead-up to the AFC Championship. He was hurt in the third quarter of the Chiefs’ divisional round win over the Cleveland Browns, and was seen limping off the field before being carted to the locker room.

Despite the injury, Mahomes has remained optimistic about his chances of playing in the AFC title game. He said he has been doing “everything possible” to get back on the field, and that he is “confident” in his ability to play.

Mahomes’ teammates have also expressed their confidence in the quarterback. Linebacker Anthony Hitchens said Mahomes has been “working hard” in practice and that he is “confident” he will be ready to go on Sunday.

The Chiefs will face the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 6:40 p.m. ET.
