The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl after an incredible performance by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, despite an achy ankle.
Mahomes, who threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns, willed the Chiefs to a win against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship game. The Chiefs’ do-over play in the fourth quarter, which was met with criticism from NFL fans, proved to be the difference in the game.
The Bengals, however, should not be discouraged about the future. Despite the loss, the Bengals have plenty of talent and were in the championship game for a reason.
Five things stood out from the Chiefs’ win against the Bengals, including the team’s strong defense, Mahomes’ ability to make plays, and the Chiefs’ ability to capitalize on the Bengals’ mistakes.
Position-by-position, the Chiefs had the edge over the Bengals. The Chiefs had the better offense and defense, and their special teams were able to make some key plays.
The Chiefs will now face the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl. The matchup will be one for the ages, and it will be interesting to see if Mahomes and the Chiefs can continue their incredible run.
