LEVITTOWN, PA – The murder trial of a Pennsylvania man accused of fatally shooting and beheading his father, before broadcasting the aftermath on social media, commenced this week in Bucks County.

Justin Mohn, 33, faces a slew of charges, including first- and second-degree murder, for the grisly killing of his father, Michael Mohn, 68. The alleged crime occurred on January 30, 2024, when Justin reportedly shot his father, subsequently decapitating him. In a disturbing twist, he later posted a video online, brandishing his father’s head while delivering an anti-government tirade.

Michael Mohn was a semi-retired employee with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and his death has left the community in shock.

On the trial’s opening day, Justin’s mother, Denice Mohn, testified, recounting the horrific moment she stumbled upon her husband’s headless body in their home’s bathroom. Struggling to recall the sequence of events, she recounted her immediate panic and her frantic call to emergency services.

Denice detailed a troubling transformation in Justin following his return from Colorado to their Levittown home. The family believed Justin had experienced an emotional collapse and had grown increasingly antagonistic in his communications, often expressed through hostile text messages.

At the trial, Denice expressed concerns about her son’s mental state and his growing resentment towards the federal government, noting that they were supporting him financially in his job search and mental health treatment. “He was not himself,” she said. “We just wanted to help.”

Denice also revealed that warnings about Justin’s anti-government sentiments only came to light when local police informed her about his alarming social media activity. This revelation marked a pivotal moment, though she was advised merely to caution her son.

The court heard that just a day before the murder, the family had shared a hopeful moment when Justin asked to borrow his father’s car for a job interview, a gesture signaling potential positive change.
