FREEPORT TOWNSHIP, PA – A Pennsylvania community was left in shock just after the holidays when an 18-year-old allegedly shot his parents, killing his mother and injuring his father, before fleeing into the surrounding countryside.

Authorities responded Friday afternoon to the scene along Garrison Road in Freeport Township following a report of gunfire and found two adults with gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed a woman to a hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she later died from her injuries. Her husband, also found with a gunshot wound at the residence, was hospitalized and later released in stable condition.

Investigators quickly identified the suspect as Jarrod Noll, the teenage son of the victims. After the shooting, Noll reportedly left the area on foot, sparking a manhunt that stretched across state lines.

Law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions, including K-9 units and aviation support, scoured the rugged terrain near the family’s home. Officers warned residents to remain vigilant, describing Noll as armed and dangerous and urging them not to approach if they spotted him.

Authorities said the shooting occurred outside the family home while Noll’s younger siblings were inside. The children were unharmed during the incident and have since been placed in the care of a relative.

The intense manhunt came to a close the next day when West Virginia State Police took Noll into custody without incident. By the time of his arrest, law enforcement had been searching for several hours, covering wooded areas and using both ground teams and helicopters.

Local officials emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that the presence of an armed fugitive with a homicide warrant posed a significant risk to the community. Police worked quickly to secure the area and ensure the safety of nearby residents.

Following his arrest, Noll was being held in West Virginia pending extradition to Pennsylvania. He faces charges of criminal homicide for his mother’s death and attempted homicide for the shooting of his father.

As the investigation continues, police have yet to publicly comment on a possible motive for the shooting. The tragedy has left neighbors and community members grappling with unanswered questions in the days after the violence.

Authorities said support services would be made available to the victims’ surviving family members, especially the children who witnessed the aftermath. No further injuries or threats to the public have been reported.
