Aalborg Zoo, located in northern Jutland, wants to incorporate these animals into the diet of its captive predators, reinforcing a natural food chain for its resident animals.

The zoo has assured the public that any donated pets will be handled with care. Trained staff will carry out euthanasia in a humane manner, as part of the organization’s commitment to animal welfare and professional integrity. An outreach on social media emphasizes the need for healthy animals for this purpose, inviting those unable to keep their pets to reach out.

To support its carnivorous inhabitants, the zoo is specifically interested in rabbits, guinea pigs, and chickens. According to zoo officials, the euthanized pets will not go to waste.
