Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Josh Sills has been indicted on rape and kidnapping charges in Ohio. The charges stem from a 2019 incident in Guernsey County, Ohio, in which Sills is accused of raping and kidnapping a woman.
Sills, an Ohio native, was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List following the indictment.
“We take these allegations very seriously and have been in communication with the league office,” the Eagles said in a statement. “We will continue to monitor the situation.”
The allegations have sent shockwaves throughout the NFL community. Sills was a seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and had been expected to compete for a starting role on the Eagles’ offensive line.
Sills has yet to comment on the charges. He is scheduled to appear in court in Guernsey County on August 24th.
