Pleasant Hill Man Charged with Second-Degree Murder after Fatal Gas Station Incident

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN – A 23-year-old man is facing charges of second-degree murder following a fatal incident at Fire Creek gas station in Pleasant Hill on Saturday afternoon. The victim, a 36-year-old man, was found injured in the parking lot and later died from his injuries.

Safety concerns in the area, including around St. Paul’s Hospital, have been previously raised by the Pleasant Hill Community Association. They have requested alternative response officers to be assigned to neighborhoods with higher crime rates, such as their community.

Saskatoon police responded to the incident and found the victim had succumbed to a serious injury. The suspect was located nearby and taken into custody without further incident. The 23-year-old man was charged with second-degree murder, as well as two counts of breach of probation and one count of breach of undertaking.

This incident marks the 10th homicide in Saskatoon in 2023. The police continue to investigate the case, which includes victims from earlier in the year, such as Steffen Pohl on January 30 and Jessica Caron on February 1. The area around 20th Street West and Avenue P South was closed off for several hours but was later reopened. There was no visible police presence in the area on Sunday.
