Los Angeles, California – A police chase that began near Silver Lake in Los Angeles ended with a stolen vehicle suspect barricading himself inside a home in the Echo Park area.

According to LAPD officials, the pursuit began when officers attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle believed to be involved in multiple crimes throughout the San Gabriel Valley. The suspect refused to stop and led police on a high-speed chase through several residential neighborhoods before crashing into a fence and running into the home on West Sunset Boulevard.

As officers surrounded the house, nearby residents were evacuated as a safety precaution. Negotiations between police and the suspect continued for several hours before he was taken into custody without incident.

“It’s been a long night,” said LAPD spokesperson, Officer John Roberts. “We’re glad this suspect is off the streets and no one was harmed during the pursuit.”

The suspect’s identity has not been released, and charges are pending. The investigation is ongoing.
