Pope Francis Blasts Foreign Plundering of Congo: ‘Hands Off Africa!’

Pope Francis arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Sunday for a three-day visit, where he called for an end to foreign exploitation of the country’s resources.

In a speech in Kinshasa, the Pope urged the international community to “hands off Africa,” condemning the plundering of the continent’s resources. He also called for the respect of human rights and the need for reconciliation between different factions in the country.

The Pope is visiting the DRC as part of a tour of Africa that includes stops in South Sudan, Madagascar, and Mozambique. He has been outspoken about the need for peace and development in the region.

The DRC has been plagued by conflict for decades, with a number of armed groups vying for control of its resources. The Pope’s visit is seen as an opportunity to bring attention to the ongoing conflict and the need for a peaceful resolution.

The Pope also visited a refugee camp in the DRC, where he met with displaced people and spoke about the need for international aid and support.

The Pope’s visit to the DRC is his second trip to the country in five years. He has previously visited Mozambique, South Sudan, and Madagascar.
