The potential danger arises when the residue remains on the cheese slice and is ingested inadvertently. This could initiate a gagging reflex or even potentiate choking hazards, said the company in its notice. The film strip’s lingering adhesion to the cheese increases the propensity for it to be ingested mistakenly and could make for an unpleasant eating experience.

The recall pertains to certain Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices, and specifically targets cases where the issue has been confirmed or is highly suspected. While an unpleasant experience at its least, the worst-case scenario sees the potential for the film strip posing a choking hazard to the unwary consumer.
