Record-Breaking Brothers: Cleveland Guardians’ Josh and Bo Naylor Make MLB History with Simultaneous Multi-Run Homers

Cleveland Guardians’ Brothers Josh and Bo Naylor Make MLB History with Multi-Run Homers

In a historic moment for Major League Baseball, brothers Josh and Bo Naylor of the Cleveland Guardians hit multi-run home runs in the same inning for the same team. This incredible feat took place during Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field.

The Naylor brothers made their mark in the top of the third inning. Bo Naylor kicked things off by launching a 435-foot changeup from Rangers starter Jon Gray over the right field wall, giving the Guardians a 2-0 lead. Not to be outdone, Josh Naylor followed suit with a two-run homer of his own, increasing Cleveland’s lead to 4-0.

For Josh Naylor, it was his 12th home run of the year, while Bo Naylor celebrated his second homer. The brothers shared a special moment, cheering each other on as they made history together. “It’s something super special. It’s something that we’ve talked about, joked about in the past. Seeing it come to pass was pretty wild to think about,” Bo Naylor said.

This remarkable achievement by the Naylor brothers puts them in an elite group of siblings. Since 1961, they are only the fourth set of brothers to hit home runs in the same inning for the same team. The other sets include BJ and Justin Upton (twice in 2013), Billy and Cal Ripken (in 1990 and 1996), and Tommie and Hank Aaron (1962).

The most recent occurrence before the Naylors was when former Seattle Mariners player Kyle Seager and current Texas Ranger Corey Seager (who was with the Los Angeles Dodgers at the time) homered in the same game in 2020.

Despite their historic night, the Naylors couldn’t secure a victory. The Rangers mounted a comeback and ultimately defeated the Guardians with a score of 12-4.

In summary, the Naylor brothers created an unforgettable moment in MLB history with their simultaneous multi-run homers. Their record-breaking performance showcased their talent and the special bond they share as siblings. Although the game ended in a loss for the Guardians, the brothers’ achievements will be remembered for years to come.
