Rep. Adam Schiff Launches Bid for California U.S. Senate Seat Held by Feinstein

U.S. Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) announced his campaign for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, launching a bid to unseat Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

Schiff, who has represented California’s 28th Congressional District since 2013, made the announcement during a speech in Los Angeles, where he promised to fight for the people of California.

“We need to make sure that everyone in California is represented and that their voices are heard in Washington,” said Schiff. “I am running for the U.S. Senate so that I can continue to fight for the people of California and make sure that our state is a leader in the nation.”

Schiff’s announcement was met with widespread support from California Democrats, including Governor Gavin Newsom, who called Schiff “a fierce advocate for the people of California.”

Schiff is expected to face a competitive primary race, with several other Democrats already announcing their candidacy. However, Schiff’s long history of representing California in Congress is expected to give him an edge.

Schiff’s announcement comes as the state of California is facing a number of challenges, including the coronavirus pandemic, economic inequality, and climate change. In his speech, Schiff promised to tackle these issues head-on if elected to the Senate.

“We must do more to ensure that everyone in California has access to quality health care, that our communities are safe, and that our environment is protected,” said Schiff. “I am ready to take on these challenges and fight for the people of California.”
