Residents Urged to Stay Away as Ohio Train Derailment Sparks Controlled Chemical Release

On Tuesday, a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio caused a controlled release of a toxic chemical as well as a fire. Local residents have been urged to stay away from the area until further notice.

Officials have reported that the controlled release of the chemicals was successful and that the fire is now under control. However, reports of a strong odor in the area have led local officials to recommend that residents stay indoors for the time being.

At least one person has been hospitalized in the nearby town of Xenia following a multi-vehicle crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
