Revenge plot uncovered: Police reveal suspects in brutal murder of family in Mugu district

MUGU, Nepal – Police in Mugu district of Nepal have publicly identified two suspects accused of murdering a family of four in Mandu of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-6. The suspects, 31-year-old Gorkharaj Shahi and 31-year-old Gopal Bahadur Bohara, were presented to the public at a press conference held at the Mugu District Police Office.

According to Deputy Inspector General Bhim Dhakal, Shahi was apprehended from Birendranagar in Surkhet on Monday, while Bohara was arrested at his residence in Mandu on Friday. The police chief of Karnali Province revealed that Bohara’s motive for the murder was revenge. He had allegedly asked the husband of the deceased woman to help him secure a foreign employment visa, and when his request was ignored, he planned and executed the murders.

Furthermore, the authorities disclosed that Gorkharaj was enlisted by Gopal to carry out the crime. Gorkharaj arrived in Mugu on October 22, and together with Gopal, they used a khukuri to murder the woman and her three children on October 26. They then fled the scene with stolen items and attempted to evade capture by traveling to Surkhet.

The victims, a 26-year-old woman, her 11-year-old and six-month-old sons, and a seven-year-old daughter, were discovered in their home on October 27. The investigation into the horrific crime is ongoing, as law enforcement officials work to ensure that justice is served for the tragic loss of life.
