Los Angeles, California – The Duke and Duchess of Sussex surprised residents in Los Angeles by visiting a meal distribution center set up for those affected by the devastating wildfires in the region. Prince Harry and Meghan were seen at the Pasadena Convention Center, which has been repurposed as an evacuation site due to the ongoing crisis.
During their visit, the royal couple spoke with World Central Kitchen (WCK) founder José Andrés, volunteers, first responders, and victims of the wildfires. WCK, a partner of their Archewell Foundation, has been providing free meals to those impacted by the massive blazes.
Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo praised Harry and Meghan for their hands-on approach, mentioning that they had quietly served food earlier that day without seeking publicity. The couple’s visit aimed to support families in the affected areas and express gratitude to the first responders for their efforts.
Despite some progress against the wildfires, over 100,000 residents remain under evacuation orders as the region continues to battle the flames. At least 11 fatalities have been reported, although the exact toll remains uncertain until authorities can access all affected neighborhoods safely.
Having relocated to the United States in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan have settled in Montecito, located approximately 90 miles from Los Angeles, with their children. The couple is known to have donated essential supplies, offered their home to evacuees, and provided support to those in need during this crisis.
In a statement on their website, Harry and Meghan highlighted the devastating impact of the wildfires on Southern California communities and emphasized the urgent need for support. They encouraged individuals to offer safe havens to evacuees, check on disabled or elderly neighbors, and consider donating essential items to aid relief efforts.
Their visit to the distribution center and outreach efforts underscored the couple’s commitment to helping those affected by the wildfires in the region. As the crisis continues, community support and generosity become crucial in assisting residents in rebuilding and recovering from the devastation caused by the wildfires.
