San Antonio man sets fire to bar after the owner fired his girlfriend

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A San Antonio man has been arrested after allegedly threatening a bar owner and setting multiple fires outside the business, following a dispute over his girlfriend’s dismissal, according to police records.

Kevin Arthur Williams, 47, was taken into custody Tuesday and faces charges of arson and making terroristic threats. Authorities say the incident began after Williams’s girlfriend was fired from her job at Chillie Willie’s Mustang Lounge in San Antonio.

Following her termination, Williams and his girlfriend reportedly encountered the bar owners at a separate establishment, where a heated argument unfolded. During the confrontation, Williams is accused of threatening to kill the bar owner and burn down Chillie Willie’s.

Investigators say Williams continued to escalate the situation with a series of threatening text messages directed to another employee at the bar. In the texts, he allegedly issued ultimatums and made direct threats about harming the bar owner if certain demands were not met. The messages detailed intentions to carry out violence or inflict further harm, according to court documents.

Authorities allege that Williams later confronted the bar owners again, shouting death threats outside their presence. Witnesses told police that Williams screamed the threats multiple times and attempted to physically attack the owner, but was restrained by bystanders before any altercation could take place.

Tensions reached their peak on July 7, when Williams was reportedly seen by witnesses at Chillie Willie’s. According to the arrest affidavit, surveillance footage shows Williams exiting a vehicle, dousing the front lawn with gasoline, and starting a fire. After bystanders extinguished the blaze, Williams allegedly set a second fire near the front porch of the bar.

The fires caused an estimated $25,000 in damage and forced the bar to temporarily close for repairs. Police say surveillance videos and eyewitness accounts aided in identifying Williams as the suspect responsible for both incidents of arson.

Following his arrest, Williams was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. He faces charges of arson intended to damage habitation, and making terroristic threats that caused fear of imminent serious bodily injury.

Williams is being held on a combined bond of $130,000. A court date has been set for October 20. The investigation remains ongoing.
