Sean Payton Makes Bold Statement on Russell Wilson’s Coaching Staff: ‘Not Gonna Take Place Here’

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has made it clear that he will not be following in the footsteps of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Payton recently vowed to do what Wilson does well, but clarified that he will not be allowing Wilson’s personal coaches in the Saints’ facility this year.

This was confirmed by Payton in a statement released on Tuesday. “We respect Russell’s performance team and the work they do, but we won’t be bringing them into our facility this year,” he said.

ESPN reported that Payton’s former quarterback coach with the Seahawks, Carl Smith, will not be in the Saints’ facility this year either. Smith has been Wilson’s personal coach for the past three seasons.

Payton also addressed the issue of Wilson’s personal coaches in the Broncos’ facility. He said, “We know the Broncos have their own performance team and we respect that. We won’t be bringing in any of Russell’s personal coaches to our facility this year.”

This news comes as a surprise to many who expected the Saints to emulate Wilson’s success in the NFL. However, Payton’s statement shows that he is committed to doing things his own way.
