An altercation between Fox Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe, the Memphis Grizzlies and their star player Tee Morant quickly escalated during a game against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.
The incident began when Sharpe, who was in attendance at the game, started heckling Grizzlies player Dillon Brooks. Tee Morant and other Grizzlies players came to Brooks’ defense, and a heated argument ensued between Sharpe and the Grizzlies.
The altercation was quickly broken up by security, and both Sharpe and the Grizzlies were separated. According to ESPN, the incident occurred just before halftime and caused a brief delay in the game.
No one was injured during the altercation, and no charges have been filed. The NBA is reportedly looking into the incident and will make a statement at a later date.
Sharpe has yet to comment on the incident. The Grizzlies, meanwhile, released a statement saying they are “disappointed to see such a disturbance take place at a game and will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of our players and fans.”
