Frankfort, Ky. — A tragic shooting at Kentucky State University on Tuesday resulted in the death of a 19-year-old student, identified by officials as De’Jon Darrell Fox Jr. The incident has left the university community in mourning and shock as it grapples with the aftermath of this violence.

According to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, Fox Jr. was the only fatality from the shooting, which occurred around 3 p.m. on the university’s campus. Authorities confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. The coroner also noted that a complete autopsy report is expected to take 14 to 16 weeks to finalize.

In addition to Fox, another student was critically injured, although their condition remains unclear as of Wednesday afternoon. Campus officials have not provided any updates about the second student’s health status.

A 48-year-old man, identified as Jacob Lee Bard, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and first-degree assault. Bard is currently being held without bail at the Franklin County Jail, as additional details about the shooting continue to emerge.
