Snowboarding Instructor Gets 5 Years for Distributing Child Pornography on LiveMe

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A 42-year-old man from South Lake Tahoe, Timothy Mackey, has been sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for the distribution of child pornography. This comes after Mackey was discovered to be a member of chat groups that shared explicit content on the social media platform LiveMe, including a group named “No Limit!!!” In February 2020, Mackey, using the username “bag of rock,” posted nine images of child pornography in the “No Limit!!!” group. He was also found to be the administrator of at least one LiveMe chat group dedicated to the exchange of such illicit content. This revelation is particularly disturbing as Mackey had previously worked as a snowboarding instructor and had applied to become a foster parent prior to his arrest in April 2020.

The case was brought to light through an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department and South Lake Tahoe Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise N. Yasinow was responsible for prosecuting the case. This incident was addressed as part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 in a bid to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The initiative brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

This shocking case underscores the importance of ongoing efforts to protect children from exploitation and abuse, and serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who seek to harm the most vulnerable members of society.

In summary, Timothy Mackey’s sentencing to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for the distribution of child pornography reveals the disturbing reality of online exploitation and abuse. This case underscores the ongoing efforts to combat such offenses and protect children from harm.
