An investigation into a mass shooting at a Lunar New Year festival in Monterey Park, California, has concluded with the death of the suspected shooter after a police standoff in Torrance.
According to the Torrance Sheriff’s Department, the suspect was found dead in the driver’s seat of a van that was possibly linked to the shooting. At least 10 people were killed and others were injured in the shooting, and the suspect had been at large until the police standoff.
The Torrance Sheriff’s Department and SWAT teams had entered the van in order to apprehend the suspect. Following the operation, California officials provided an update about the suspect’s death and the investigation.
