PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD – Prince George’s County, Md. authorities have identified three suspects who were apprehended in connection with an armed robbery in District Heights that resulted in one suspect being shot by an officer.
The suspects, 24-year-old Edward Leroy Brown and 26-year-old Kanard Bishop, both from the District, were taken into custody by the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD). An arrest warrant has been issued for 18-year-old Kahlill Boyd, who managed to flee the scene but was later apprehended by the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C., awaiting extradition back to Prince George’s County.
The incident unfolded when officers were monitoring a car that had been carjacked at gunpoint the day before on Brooks Drive in District Heights. The suspects parked the stolen vehicle outside a Game Stop on Silver Hill Road, entering the store disguised with masks and attempting to rob it at gunpoint.
Upon being confronted by officers and instructed to drop their weapons, the suspects fled out the back of the store and into the parking lot. Authorities witnessed the suspects running with firearms in hand, leading to Brown being shot by a detective in the lower body. Emergency aid was provided to Brown before he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Bishop was taken into custody without incident, with both firearms belonging to the suspects discovered in the Game Stop parking lot. The swift actions of law enforcement prevented any further escalation of the situation, ensuring the safety of bystanders and store employees. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to gather additional evidence and information regarding the armed robbery.
