Swatting Attempt Targets Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene on Christmas – Latest Hoax Exposes Dangerous Reality

ROME, Georgia – Republican U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was the victim of an attempted swatting at her residence in Georgia on Christmas morning, according to the congresswoman and local police. This incident is the latest in a series of fake emergency calls made in an attempt to draw armed officers to her home.

The Rome Police Department confirmed that the call was a hoax and did not dispatch officers to Greene’s house. The call, which claimed a shooting and suicide threat, was made to the Georgia suicide hotline by a man in New York. Once the hotline responders recognized Greene’s address, the call was transferred to the police.

Greene took to social media to express her frustration, stating that this was at least the eighth swatting attempt she has experienced. The Rome Police Department also verified that past calls have included false reports of dead bodies in various areas of her home and fake shootings outside her residence. The department said it has responded to these incidents in the past but now works closely with Greene’s security detail to assess threat levels.

Since gaining more influence under the House’s current Republican leadership, Greene, who represents the cities of Rome, Dalton, and Calhoun in northwest Georgia, continues to be a polarizing figure for the far-right. She was stripped of committee assignments during her first term over racist comments, conspiracy theories, and past endorsement of violence against Democratic officials.

The Rome Police Department’s criminal investigations division is working to identify the caller responsible for the most recent swatting attempt. In a similar incident last year, a New York man was sentenced to three months in prison for making threatening phone calls to Greene’s Washington, D.C., office.

The police department continues to investigate the incident and work closely with Greene’s security detail to ensure her safety. This attempted swatting is just the latest in a series of harassment incidents aimed at the controversial congresswoman.
