Tanker Fire Causes Interstate 95 Overpass Collapse in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – An overpass on I-95 in Philadelphia collapsed on Sunday afternoon after a tanker truck caught fire underneath the highway. The incident happened in the Tacony section of the city, with a portion of the highway severely damaged.

The fire started under the overpass when the tanker truck caught fire. The flames quickly spread, causing the overpass to collapse. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far.

The collapse has caused major traffic disruptions, with all northbound lanes of the highway closed, and traffic diverted onto local roads. The Philadelphia Fire Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation are currently on the scene, working to clear the debris and assess the damage.

The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of overpasses and highways across the country. With many of these structures aging and in need of repair, accidents like this one are becoming more common.

Local officials are urging drivers to exercise caution and avoid the affected area until further notice. They are also working with state and federal authorities to determine the cause of the fire and collapse and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
