The ordeal began when an Austin Independent School District police sergeant was wounded while responding to a call at approximately 10:43 a.m., according to Interim Austin Police Chief Robin Henderson. The following hours saw law enforcement responding to multiple violent incidents, including a double homicide in Austin and the wounding of a male cyclist, both leading police to suspect a connection between the events.

As the day progressed, the violence escalated further. That evening, an Austin police officer was aggressively attacked by the suspect upon responding to a burglary call. The confrontation resulted in the officer sustaining multiple gunshot wounds but ultimately surviving. In a dramatic pursuit, the suspect evaded the scene in his vehicle only to crash shortly thereafter, leading to his arrest.

Inside the residence associated with the burglary call, two fatalities were discovered, both apparently victims of the same suspect, compounding the day’s tragedy, the police chief reported.

Additional connections to Tuesday’s violence have surfaced in Bexar County. Sheriff Javier Salazar noted that two more victims had been found deceased at a residence with ties to the suspect, located near San Antonio. The discovery followed an observation of water leakage, prompting deputies to enter the property where they encountered the gruesome scene.
