“The Bold, The Young and The Murdered” Actors Face Dueling Personalities in Stage Play

Columbus, Nebraska – For actors, taking on a role means embodying a character for hours at a time, but for the performers of Platte Valley Playhouse’s production of “The Bold, The Young and The Murdered,” the challenge is even greater. Not only do they have to portray their characters on stage, but they also have to portray the characters of actors on a TV show within the play.

Director Suzi Zwick highlighted the additional challenge of playing essentially opposite personalities between the two sets of characters. This includes memorizing lines, knowing where to stand, and embodying contrasting traits as required by the roles they are playing.

The play, written by Don Zolidis, follows the cast of a soap opera, “The Bold and The Young,” as they are faced with the task of creating an episode to save the show’s ratings. However, things take a sinister turn when a killer starts targeting the cast members one by one, leaving the remaining actors with the additional task of finding the murderer.

One of the actors, Jess Haiar, shared the difficulties of seamlessly switching between her two characters and embodying traits that are opposite to her real personality. Despite the challenges, she expressed excitement about working alongside new actors who have joined the playhouse for this production.

The play will be performed at the Central Community College performing arts center theatre, running from November 9-12, offering affordable entertainment for the community while supporting the hard work put in by the actors and crew. Tickets are available for purchase both in advance and at the door.

In a world filled with negative news, Haiar encourages people to join them for an evening of laughter and entertainment. She emphasized the value of coming together for a few hours of lighthearted enjoyment and the effort the cast and crew have put into the production.
